I have issue trying to install Windows-Feature on Windows Server 2016 for my organization.

I'm getting the following error code: 0x80070057

I have tried some basic troubleshooting that I found online with no result.

• dism /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth - shows "The Component store is repairable."

• dism /online /cleanup-image /checkhealth - shows "The Component store is repairable."

• dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

• sfc /scannow - shows no curruptions.

Even tried to restore and install the feature from the image and getting the same error code.

• dism /online /enable-feature /featurename:IIS_serServer / Source:X:\source

• dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth /souece:WIM:X:\sources\install.win:2 /Limit Access

so i dont have a clue what this site is or what its for but i keep trying to visit several of my frequented websites but no matter what i do i keep getting brought to this sites home page when i type in a different sites url. any suggestions on how to fix this error?

I have set up an FTP server on a Windows 10 Pro machine If I access it locally with ftp://192.168.1.151/, it works perfectly.

If I access it from another computer, it works only when the firewall is disabled. I added a firewall rule to open ports 20 and 21, but it still does not work:

If I use the rule to open all ports, it will work, so this is a port opening issue.

What ports should I open to allow another computer to access this FTP server?

Unfortunately, for some reason I do not understand trace logs generate only with condition statusCodes="200-999".

When I remove the statusCodes="200-999" field leave only timeTaken="00:00:30" the logs will stop collecting.

we have a problems with Microsoft Office Web Apps running on Windows Server 2012R2.

There are Microsoft Office Web Apps installed and every time the server is restarted, SSL certificate bound to the IIS site and specific binding (named HTTP80) is deleted, so one has to go and manually set the certificate on the site.

I was able to find one similar problem:

but this is not the case - there is no such key in ApplicationHost config.

Event logs only specify that the IIS was killed, SSL certificate deleted and IIS was brought back on right after / during the start of the OS...

Any suggestions?

Hi,

on my 3 servers, I have without any understable reason RunDLL32 process stacking and eating 100% of one cpu core at a time 

I kwow this is IIS because I created a specific user for the anonymous access, and this user is the one running the "RunDLL32" process....

Unless we kill thos process manually, they are stacking and at some point using every cpu and stalling the server.

Any idea besides using Apache ;-)

Currently I am doing a project for my college class and I am stuck.  I am in a small team that is implementing a simple webserver that will host a public database.  My team member was familiar with .vue and I was familiar with hosting an IIS server.  During implementation, I am having difficulty getting the .vue .html pages to work properly.  From what I have read, I need to modify the web.config file to allow for .vue to work.  However, whenever I modify the web.config file with sample code provided online it fails to work and I get a 500 Internal Error.  With the current web.config file I was able to get the vue page to work once, however it soon stopped working and I do not know where else to look.  Does anyone have any pointers I can look at?

I have a site on IIS 10 that uses server side include directives.  It works great except one thing.

If i go to any url of my page, such http://www.site.com/index.html  -  this works.

But if i go to www.site.com/index.html/foo   - this should be a broken link but instead it returns the index.html with all of the relative paths wrong (css and js broken). It should be a 404 correct?   I think i want it to be a 404.   Problem is google custom search is finding a bunch of these  index.html/foo type links.

I do have url rewrite but not special rules for this case or add/remove slash.

The problem goes away if i disable server side include.  Any assistance would be appreciated.

What can be causing my app to crash?

I'm frustrated with an SCEP/NDES authentication issue.

This is my first time setting up a CA and NDES, so I've been doing my research, maybe a little too much. I've learned a lot in this endeavor, but, I'm about to throw this out the window.

I am trying to set up SCEP on a Palo Alto 3220 using a user authentication cert template for GlobalProtect. I've double and triple checked security settings on the template and made sure the template I want to use is in the MSCEP registry entry on the NDES server.

I've set up my CA and NDES servers (even ripped them out and started from scratch at one point), and everything seems to be going well. My computer certs are being automatically issued by AD, and requesting/installing certs from the CA is working as it should. With NDES, I'm able to authenticate to https://1.1.1.1/certsrv/mscep_admin and obtain the thumbprint and code for SCEP set up, however, whenever I complete SCEP profile set up for my Palo Alto firewall, I get an Unable to fetch SCEP profile from CA error - looking at the NDES server, it's getting a 401.2 error.

I've run Microsoft's NDES configuration validation script, as well. Everything's come back working, except for Intune specific things (such as NDESPolicy module registry entry). I've also enabled Failed Request logs, and the only thing it comes back with is Access is denied.  I have also moved "NTLM" to the top of Windows Authentication, still no go.

Has anyone here run into this before, or can just offer some insight?

Hi, I am running Windows Server 2016 / IIS 10, and really hoping someone can help me with an ongoing problem.

We are having sporadic but persistent problems downloading large files over HTTPS (not HTTP). Here is what I've learned so far:

1. The problem only happens when downloading files - there are no problems with browsing web pages.

2. While some downloads work perfectly, others go for a while - usually several MB (sometimes say 20-30MB or more) - but then just stop. I've captured the traffic to the browser, and the data just stops coming from the server with no HTTP error. The browser eventually times out. After it stops, I can resume the download which usually works for another few seconds and then fails again.

3. This is sporadic and seemingly random: some large downloads work fine, but it's still happening frequently enough to be a problem. Sometimes I can download a large file OK, but then a re-download fails part way through, for no apparent reason.

4. There are no relevant events in the Event Log. ASP.NET throws a "remote host closed the connection" error, as it does if the user closed their browser. I've confirmed (through traffic capture) that the browsers certainly are not 'disconnecting'. But to the server, it looks as if the browser has disconnected.

5. The same behavior happens whether serving a static file via IIS or via ASP.NET (using Response.TransmitFile) so I am sure it isn't an ASP.NET issue.

6. A key thing: it only applies to HTTPS downloads. I've confirmed this by testing. I have tested downloading a file over HTTPS and it fails repeatedly. I then immediately download the same file using HTTP and it works perfectly. I immediately try again via HTTPS and it fails again.  I've even had an HTTP download running perfectly while simultaneously seeing HTTPS downloads fail. I've confirmed the SSL certificate is valid, and the HTTPS downloads often do work, so I doubt anything wrong with the cert. Plus, I tried with a self-signed cert and got the same result.

7. Large downloads over FTP and RDP work fine (like HTTP) - it's only HTTPS downloads that fail sporadically.

8. I doubt it is a network card error, because everything works perfectly over HTTP (and other protocols) at same time as an HTTPS download is failing repeatedly.

9. Have tried with firewall disabled, and get the same result.

I'm really out of ideas for this, so any suggestions will be gratefully received.

I've had numerous issues with IIS 8.5 becoming unresponsive, necessitating a server reboot to get the service back up and running.  All FTP connections to the IIS IP are not allowed until the reboot.  The only thing I see in the inetpub logs at the time of the hang are ControlChannelOpened commands with no corresponding ControlChannelClosed commands.

After a reboot of the server, the IIS will work as it should for a few weeks before expieriencing this issue again.  Inetpub logs always show the same thing.

To repair this error right click on the virtual directory and click "Convert To Application".

Hi!

I run a local copy of a software using the :80 port which means I've deleted the Default webpage in the IIS to let my application use that port instead. Worked perfectly up until I installed the latest windows feature update. Since then it I get an error message when trying to reach localhost:80 and I can no longer open the IIS to sort the problem out. 

I've tried reverting the update but unfortunately that didn't help. I've also tried disabling/uninstalling IIS and then re-enabling it but there was no change.

The only related error messages I get in the Event Log is the following:

The World Wide Web Publishing Service (WWW Service) did not register the URL prefix http://*:80/ for site 1. The necessary network binding may already be in use. The site has been disabled.

Do you have any idea what is causing the crash?

This error happens both with Microsoft FrontPage as well as with Microsoft Expression 4.

As long as the domain/subdomain is a normal one, everything works fine.

If however, I have a domain/subdomain like xn--konomi-9xa.as-norge.no, I can connect as usual, but when I say try to publish,
I get the following error:

404 - File or directory not found.
Server Error 404 - File or directory not found. The resource you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.

Any idea(s), in how to resolve this?

Getting the error below, tried a couple different website publishes from Visual Studio 2019, I first set up a website through IIS pointing to a folder in inetpub\www\xxxxx

I've completely uninstalled IIS and reinstalled.

Any ideas?   the error is saying it's a webconfig problem, but I've published more than 1 site so I don't think it is application specific issue, seems to be an IIS issue on this local machine... 

These are .netcore 3.1 applications.  because the apps work via iisExpress, I must have all the frameworks/sdks I need...
